Paul Buckley is a principal scientist at the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (an executive agency of Defra), specialising in communicating climate change science to policy makers. Most notably, he has been the programme manager for the Marine Climate Change Impacts Partnership (MCCIP) for over 15 years. MCCIP acts as the focal point in the UK, devolved administrations, and Ireland in transferring scientific evidence of marine climate change impacts to the policy community. Paul has also co-authored the climate change chapters of Charting Progress 2 and the OSPAR QSR, as well as contributing widely to requirements under the climate change act (CCRA, NAP and ARP reports, as well as CCC indicators). He has worked on Caribbean, Pacific, EU and Middle East climate change projects and publishes regularly. He has extensive experience of engaging with marine sectors on climate change adaptation, as well as the general public regarding their attitudes to marine climate change risks. Paul has extensive experience of managing UK and international projects, both through Cefas and previous work in the private sector for international market research agencies.
