FUW Deputy President Ian Rickman is a sheep farmer from Carmarthenshire, where he and his family run an upland sheep flock of Llandovery White Faced Ewes near Llandeilo. The farm also has Common Grazing Rights on the Black Mountain, and Ian is a member of the Management Committee of the Black Mountain West Graziers Association. Ian is trialling various projects on his farm to address climate change and biodiversity loss, such as tracking collars for sheep on the common, seeding in herbal leys, undertaking soil testing, nutrient management planning and carbon footprinting as part of a local discussion group.
