Peter’s career background is in the field of corporate responsibility working for the Confederation of British Industry, Department of Trade and Industry on business education partnerships and was awarded the OBE for this work in 1995. He was Managing Director at Business in the Community from 1995 to 2005 leading work on the development of corporate responsibility.

He was appointed Vice Chair of the UK Sustainable Development Commission in 2006, later becoming Sustainable Futures Commissioner for Wales and chair of the Climate Change Commission for Wales, playing a key role in the development of the 2015 Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act. Peter was awarded a CBE for his contribution to sustainable development in 2016.

He currently  chairs the Wales Council for Voluntary Action, Dwr Cymru Customer Challenge Group,  Wales Marine Stakeholder Group and Community Energy Pembrokeshire. He is a Community Custodian for River Simple, Co-founder of the Size of Wales charity and Professor of Practice at University of Wales Trinity St David.
