Siwan Lillicrap is currently the Captain of Wales Women’s Rugby team and recently become one of the first female professional players in Wales. Siwan recently played a key part in assisting the WRU in changing the status of Women’s Rugby in Wales through professional and part time contracts. Siwan also was a big contributor to the independent review and worked closely with senior management of the WRU in shaping a positive future for Wales Women.

Siwan gained her first Welsh Cap in February 2016 against Ireland in the Women’s 6 Nations, she now has 40 caps for Wales and was named captain of Wales in the 2019 Autumn Campaign.

Prior to becoming a professionally contracted rugby player, Siwan was Head of Rugby at Swansea University. Throughout her 5 years in post she led positive change to the programme and saw promotions to premiership and super rugby, increased participation and the successful implementation of a high performance programme. Prior to this Siwan had various roles in Sport but High Performance Rugby is where her passion lies.

Siwan grew up in Swansea and is a fluent Welsh speaker. She went to Ysgol Gynradd Login Fach and then went to Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr before going on to study Sport Science at Swansea University. After graduating Siwan was elected for 2 consecutive years as Athletic Union President.

In her new role as one of the first Welsh professionally contracted rugby players, Siwan and her team mates are preparing for the Women’s 6 Nations and a Rugby World Cup later this year.
