ABP’s regional director for Wales and Short Sea Ports, Andrew Harston, will kick off the virtual event by welcoming all attendees, setting out the background to ABP’s Future ports: Wales vision white paper and introducing the keynote speakers from the Welsh and UK Governments.
The keynote talks will explore how the ambitions set out in ABP’s white paper (Future ports: Wales vision - How ports can help deliver Wales' coming transformation) support the Government’s net zero objectives and levelling up ambitions.
ABP has assembled a panel of experts from the worlds of economic development and regeneration, manufacturing and industry, energy and decarbonisation, and of course, port and maritime operations, to debate the key themes explored within the Future ports: Wales vision white paper. The panel will be chaired by the chief executive of the UK Major Ports Group, and proud Welshman, Tim Morris.
Delegates will hear the panel’s views on how ports and their customers could work more effectively with each other, with national and local government, and with the wider business community and academia to tackle the challenges and maximise the opportunities that lie ahead. There will be opportunities for delegates to pose questions and put forward suggestions for new the partnerships and innovative collaboration that will be needed to deliver the economic and environmental transformation that Wales wants to achieve over the next 30 years.
